Wedding planning and updates...

Wedding plans are coming along nicely. I actually enjoyed doing the flowers! I've always known what I wanted for flowers so it was actually really simple. The cake was pretty easy, but Sach and I don't really eat cake so my mom picked flavors, I just picked the decoration. All I lack is a DJ for the reception and figuring out what Sach is going to wear. The wedding is going to be casual so no tuxedos will be involved. I have a place for the wedding but it's not final. I haven't decided if that's what we will both be happy with. I really want an outdoor wedding, small and intimate. Finding the perfect place is hard. I'm hoping God will lead us where we are supposed to be.

This is the color flower I'm using! :)

On another note, I put an offer on a house yesterday. I found out this am that I was out bid so no house this week. :( I have been house searching pretty seriously for the last month and just can't find what I want. I really liked this house but I felt it was too much money for not alot of room. It is a super cute house but small. If I'm going to buy a house I want one I can live in for years. Once again, we're praying the right house will come along.

Sach just returned from Mexico City for a hockey tournament. It was the Mexican National tournament. Sach and some friends from around the country have been invited the last 2 years to this tournament by some guys they met from Mexico. Sach's team won 1st place this year! They are the Mexican National Champs! :) I think it's hilarious. Sach had a great time. He love hockey trips and really enjoys traveling. The guys he plays with are lifelong friends. They've been playing hockey together since they were about 10 years old. Most of the guys were from Texas (Lubbock and San Angelo), but there was a guy from California and one from Washington (he's the #1 player in the USA). They are not used to playing outdoors and have the sun burns to prove it but they came through and won! I'm super proud!

I hope all is well with everyone! :)

Engagement pics.....

We had our engagement pic session the other night and it was super fun! We decided on the photographer Rachel Russo. She was recommended by a friend and after viewing her website (rachelrussophotography.com) I was impressed and it was a no brainer. I'd never actually met her before our session, only emailed back and forth. She's super cute and fun! She posted some of our pics on our facebook and also on her blog. (http://www.photographyrachelrenee.blogspot.com/) Let us know what you think! :) Did I mention it was the windiest day of the year?! So my hair was insane. As you'll see she definitely used it as an advantage :)

Wedding shmedding.....

So....I'm trying to be more positive about planning our big day. I have almost finished our wedding invite list. We are staying home for the wedding, no island/beach wedding. :( We've decided to have a pretty small wedding and just a reception with some close friends. I hate a big production and so does Sach. Where to have the wedding is the next step. I really want an outside wedding and the place I had in mind no longer does weddings due to liability. (It's out towards Wall, TX) I'm going to Dallas next weekend to look at dresses. I have an idea of what I want. I've heard (and observed) that you don't always end up with the dress you had imagined. I found a dress that is pretty much perfect in a magazine. I've been obsessed with reading "The Knot" magazines. They have so much info in them! I hope I can find a dress similar to what I have in mind but if not maybe I can get it made. I'm super simple. We have set a tentative date of April 24th, 2010. We'll see if we can get venues on that date. :) Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Wedding Planning SUCKS!!!!!

Ahhhhh! I'm going crazy planning the wedding! We have always wanted to get married on the beach but picking the perfect place, and being able to afford it, is hard! All our searching keeps bringing us back to St. Lucia. It is soooo pretty there. We have to keep our family in mind at the same time. We really want our parents and sisters there. I really don't want a big production, just something small and intimate, then a party/reception when we get back. The islands are expensive! We have money set aside but to be able to afford everything may mean dipping into our "house fund." I have a feeling I'm not going to have a choice but we can make it up fast. I have to keep telling myself that. I don't want my dad to have to foot the bill for us, just the actual wedding, and reception of course. We've found 3 resorts, all inclusive, in St. Lucia that we like but there is one we REALLY like. It's a little more pricy but it would make a beautiful wedding! :) It may be hard to get everyone we want there but I hope it works. Sach and my parents keep telling me to do what I want but I can't help but think of everyone else. Help us pray that God leads us to the place we are supposed to be. :) I have not even thought of the reception yet but I have a feeling after planning the wedding it will be easier to plan the reception, hopefully!

Our weekend in Fredericksburg....

Sach and I celebrated our 2 years together with a trip to Fredericksburg at the beginning on August. We stayed at Camp David on Main St. and love it! The lady, Molly, who runs the place has got to be the sweetest person ever! I chose this B&B because they were cottages. I didn't want to stay in a big house with a bunch of people I didn't know. I'm a sucker for privacy. It was fantastic! We had alot of fun. We left early on Friday so we could enjoy the day. We had dinner at Pasta Bella, a very good little restraunt on Llano, just off Main St. I made us reservations at Rockbox theater (http://www.rockboxtheater.com/). I had been before with my mom and wanted Sach to go. They are a group of very talented couples and they put on quite a show!! I love music and was not sure if Sach would like it but we had a great time! We called it a night after the show.
I had a list of possible activities for Saturday but a "must" was the Wildseed Farms. I have been wanting to go for a while and I must say I was not disappointed. It is a wild flower farm but they have a butterfly house and also a wine tasting "bar." This started our wine tasting day! I have to say I enjoyed the butterflies! I'm a super nerd and was so interested in the different species and seeing the whole cycle, from the laying of eggs to a newly emerged butterfly. After the farm we prceeded to walk down Main Street. We stopped in every now and again and grabbed some wine or a beer as we strolled. It was very fun! We ended our evening at Hondo's. I had been there before with my mom and knew they usually have good entertainment on the weekends (and great burgers!). I was right! They had a great band playing on the outside patio. We happened to run into my old friend Dollie and her family and spent the evening visiting with them. It was a fantastic weekend and just the break we needed from our hectic schedules! And it was a fun weekend to celebrate our engagement! :)

Thanks for a great weekend! I love you Sach!!

Sonora Caverns

I can't believe I never posted this! In July, Sach and I got a whim and got up early one Saturday morning to drive to Sonora. Sach and I have great road trips :) We had been saying we wanted to visit the caverns for a while and never had the time so why not be spontaneous! I had never been to the caverns and Sach had not been since he was 10 years old. It was very cool. I was worried about being clostrophobic and it made me a little apprehensive as we entered but the true beauty of the caverns cured that real fast. It was so awesome! I'm a total biology nerd so that kind of stuff totally interests me. :) It was well worth the trip and very cool! Just some pics from underground.

The poor guy in front of me probably hated me :)

They call these "Q-tips"

This is the infamous butterfly that was broken by some stupid kid.

This was a great trip and very informative. It's amazing how this place is formed! :)

A Visit from some Besties!!

Some of my best friends came down from Washington state last week, Wes and Jill Thornton. They live in Snohomish, WA. This was their first visit home after the birth of their son, Townes Allen in December. I was so excited to meet him! He is so precious and is the perfect combination of the two. Wes has been one of my best friends since elementary school. He moved to Washington right after high school but we have kept in touch over the years. I was able to go to Everett,WA for their wedding 3 years ago! They actually celebrated their anniversary while they were here. I was so happy to see them and meet their newest addition! We hung out at Jill's sister Beth's house. It was good to see her and my friends from Tuesday Morning! My friend Dollie was there as well. I've known Dollie since we were toddlers. Dollie and Jill are best friends. I alway have a good laugh around Wes, he's hilarious! Love you guys! I can't wait until you finally decide to move closer to home!! :)
