Improving my skills :)

I've been improving my skills on scrap blogging! :) Thank you so much Ash for teaching me! It is so fun and easy to do! My sis was getting frustrated trying to make invitations for Cash's birthday (I can't believe he's going to be a year old already!!), so I decided to take matters into my own hands and help her out. I also had alot of free time with Sach in Mexico :) I think they turned out pretty good!

I'm very excited because Sach is on his way home tonight! He's driving in from Dallas as I'm typing this!!!!!! If you don't remember...he's been in Mexico City playing hardball roller hockey since last Thursday. His team won 3rd place in the Mexican tournament, they were the only team from the USA. He's really upset they didn't win but at least they didn't get last! :) Hopefully I'll get some pics from some people who were there that I can post later. He's coming home just in time for my birthday which is on Saturday! (My dad's is Sunday) That is also the first day of deer season so my dad and I went out to our lease and trimmed trees and filled feeders to be sure we are ready! (Hopefully there will be pics to come! )

A Cluster of Updates

So I forgot to post a specific pic. While hanging with the cousins, Cash showed some possible soccer skills. I think he kinda liked it!! I can't wait till he plays soccer! :)

I think Cash had fun hanging out with the cousins. He hadn't been around many boys all weekend so he got some good "guy time" at the party. My cousin Derek made him feel very welcome, Thanks Derek!

Sach and I finally were able to have a weekend to ourselves this past weekend! We hadn't had a weekend just to hang out together since August! I was kinda upset because on Friday I started running fever and felt terrible and I was afraid it would ruin our weekend but I was a trooper and we had a good time. We called it Date Weekend. I was "on call" on Friday so we rented movies, "Baby Mama" and "Leatherheads." I really like BM, it was hilarious! We were disappointed in leatherheads, it was really slow and not as good as I had expected. On Saturday, I cooked breakfast and we went downtown to watch Sach's sister clog, that is also what we did on our first date. We thought it only fitting to make it a tradition on date weekend :) Sach got some "Maddie" time, his niece. She loves her "Uncle Ach" :) We also got to visit with his mom and sister. It was a beautiful day to be outside so we walked around downtown a little as well.

After our stroll downtown we went by my dad's house and I got my Cash fix. Dad was keeping Cash for the afternoon. Cash was thrilled to see me! :) My dad had some company and they said his face really lit up when he heard my voice and saw me walk around the corner :) I LOVE IT! Sach and I went to eat at The Wharf and then went to the movies to see "The Express." That was a FANTASTIC movie. I would definitely recommend that movie. It was a tear jerker at times, but really good. Overall, I think Date Weekend went very well and Sach and I were excited to get to hang out together, even if I was sick all weekend :( I'm feeling tip top now though :)

Sach leaves for Mexico this week to play in a hockey tournament in Mexico City. He's really excited about going but he's ready for it to be over at the same time. He gets stressed out when he goes on trips like this and he is in charge of the jerseys so that adds to the stress. We picked up their jerseys this morning and they look awesome so he was a little relieved. Pray they win! :)

Family fun

Finally I have time to post some pics. While we were in Dallas, my sis, Cash and I went to my cousin Derek's son Hudson's 1st birthday party. My cousins had never met Cash and hadn't seen my sis in forever! Cash got to meet his cousins and play with kids his own age :) Cash got a big kick out of my uncle Gary, he would make funny sounds that Cash liked :)

On the Up and Up!

So, my mom's surgery went well. It took longer than expected, which worried me and Johnny T as we waited very impatiently in the waiting room. The doctor said her thyroid was worse than she had expected so they ended up putting in a drain tube. Also, one of her parathyroid glands would not stay in place so they transplanted it into her muscle. The parathyroid controls your calcium levels. (Her levels have been good so far so it's working!) Mom started feeling like she was swelling in her throat right after surgery so they kept her in recovery longer, which again had Johnny and me pacing the floor! But about 8pm (she went back at 12:45pm), she finally made it to her room and we got to see her. She was still real groggy from the anesthesia but she was talking and breathing! :) That's all I cared about. Of course being the little nurse I am, I inspected everything! My uncle Mike and Felipe came to visit right as she was getting to her room so they stayed with her while Johnny took me home to stay with Cash so Cassie could go see mom. (They don't allow children under the age of 12 in the waiting room or in patient's rooms)
My Unlce Mike is my dad's brother but he still considers my mom family. (My parents have been divorced for 3 years now) He's the sweetest. He fed mom ice and Jello while we were gone and stayed with her for a while even after Johnny and Cassie got back. I thought that was really awesome of him and it meant alot to my mom.
She had to stay over night. The next morning the doctor came in with 5 residents to pull mom's drain tube. Mom told them they reminded her of Grey's Anatomy and I think the doctor was offended because she said, "I like to think we're better than that." But one of the residents lightened the mood with "but we're equally good looking." :) I took mom home on Saturday about noon. She is doing great, a little sore but that is to be expected. She has alot of swelling in her face but it is going down a little more every day. I think they tilt the patient's head back to do the surgery so alot of the fluid settled in her face. She made me promise not to post any pictures of her because she thinks she looks awful! She's beautiful though :) Her incision is only about 3 inches, if that, wide and it is right in the crease of her neck so she shouldn't have a very noticeable scar. We had a great time in Dallas with mom and Johnny T. Cash loved Nana's house because it was so big and he could crawl for days :) I got some cute pics of him that I'll post later.
Thank you all for your prayers for my mom. She's doing great and sounded good when I checked on her today. I am very thankful and lucky to have such a wonderful mom. I hated having to come home and leave her! I love you Mom! Happy healing! :)

For my mom....

I have been the worst daughter ever! :) I have not posted anything about my mom in a while and she emailed me and asked if I had a mom! :) So this is for my mom. I was going to post a blog for her next week, but since she gave me a guilt trip I'll have to do it early.

I have the best mom in the world! Not only did she give me her good looks, she is my best friend. Next week is a very big week in her life. On Friday, Oct 10 not only will she have surgery to remove her thyroid, but she will celebrate her 4th year of sobriety! My mom is a truly amazing person. She has overcome the hardest obstacle. Her life has changed drastically in the last 4 years and she has made the best of it. She recently made a move from Fredericksburg to Dallas. She has a wonderful boyfriend that I adore. She is truly an inspiration. She's not afraid to ask for help and jumps at the opportunity to help someone else. I love her dearly and wish I could see her more often. I miss ya mom but I'll see you next week! I LOVE YOU!! :)

Please pray for my mom and her surgery next week, she freaks going under anesthesia. She has hyperthyroidism and her doctors say that this is the best way to control her levels. She has struggled over the last 2 years controlling her thyroid levels. I'll be posting updates while I get to be her nurse over the weekend :)
