A Visit to see Mom and Fun with Cash

Sach and I went to Dallas this past weekend to have Christmas with Mom and Johnny T. We had a good time. Cas and Cash were supposed to come but they didn't get to after all. We did some shopping and I got some books I've been looking for! :) My mom was very happy we were there! We went to a christmas party for Johnny's spanish class and drove by some FANTASTIC houses! Some of the houses up there are out of this world! If only....but that'll never happen! :) Mom is doing great since her surgery. You can't even see her scar! We went to eat at a mexican food place that had live music and we sat right in front of the band! It was loud but fun. Mom requested Johnny's favorite song and he was very surprised! It was really cute! :)

It's hard to get Cash to smile in pics these days so when we do it is so much fun! He's getting so big and will be a big brother soon! The next babe is due next month! Cash is getting tubes in his ears on Jan 16 so prayers would be appreciated. I just hope the new baby doesn't decide to come at that time! Here are some fun pictures of Cash with his "grandaddy-O"

I hope everyone has a great holiday and a very Merry Christmas!

Hockey

So it has taken me so long to post some pics from hockey weekend. Sach and his team did very well. They won 2nd place only losing one game. He has so much fun playing hockey! I've become quite a fan when Sach is playing. I find myself yelling and thinking I could be their coach! :) I don't even know that much about the game but I can yell like I do! :) haha! Sach is so FAST on skates! We had a good time in Lubbock and Sach got to see his hockey buddies. I'm amazed at the age diversity of the players. They range anywhere from 7 years old to 66 years old!

So after this trip I decided I need a new camera. I couldn't take the action pics I wanted to. If anyone has any suggestions on a good camera to get let me know! :)

Happy Thanksgiving

I haven't written anything in a while, life is boring. I had to work on thanksgiving so I missed all the family time :( Sach brought me some leftovers so it wasn't that bad. Work was busier than I thought it would be on a holiday! I hope everyone else's holiday was ok. I got to see some old friends on Friday. My old friend Dreher had an engagement party out at the lake so Sach and I went to help him celebrate his engagement. He is marrying a very sweet girl named Crystal. It was good to see some old friends I haven't seen in years! Everyone looks the same! I was surprised everyone was still the same! That was pretty much the extent of my holiday. What can I say? Pretty boring :) We're going to Lubbock this weekend for a hockey tournament for Sach so I'll have fun pics to post next week! :) Hope everyone has a great week.

Nana came to visit

I love it when my mom comes to visit! She's the bomb! :) She is known as "Nana" to Cash. She and Johnny T came for Cash's birthday. It's so nice having her around. She's so much fun! She's doing great after her surgery. You can barely see her scar! I thought I'd include some pics I took during her visit! She deserves her own post :)

Me and my beautiful Mom :)
Sach says I have no right to make fun of my mom's sunglasses, he had to pose with mine to make me see there is not much difference :)
Our growing family!
We have had a few new additions to our family in the last few years and will have the newest addition in late January! I am so blessed to have the family I have. My parents are awesome and I love it that they are still good friends after their divorce. Things would not be the same without Johnny T! We love him and I love how he loves my mom :) I don't worry about her so much with him around. He fits in with our crazy family perfectly! (If you notice the "Feliz Cumpleanos" banner in the background of the fam pic, that was for Johnny, he's learning to speak Spanish). I'm very thankful for the blessing in my life and for those around me :)

Cash's 1st Birthday!

We had Cash's 1st Birthday party yesterday! I can't believe he's already 1! Time flies!! He had a pretty good crowd show up. Alot of Bobby's (his dad) family came and my mom and Johnny came too! Cash got lots of great new presents! I believe he's already picked his favorite. My sister said he woke up this morning ready to play with all his new stuff. Why is it that on every little kid's birthday, there is always a picture of them with a messy face? I had to get one though :) We went with the "Cars" and "Hot Wheels" themes. It turned out great and I think everyone had a good time :) I know I did!
Cash's new favorite toy!

He looks like he's ready for Halloween :)
He's pretty good at opening presents!

I'm not sure he knew what to think about everyone singing for him :)

"Daddy-O" (my dad) had to get him a guitar of course. I think we had more fun with it than Cash did :)

Birthday Weekend Update

(If you have a weak stomach or are against hunting, then I would advise you NOT to read this post)

Birthday weekend went well! :) My birthday was Saturday, the 1st and my dad's was Sunday, the 2nd. I've always loved having my birthday with my dad. Maybe that's why we get along so well? My dad's "friend" wanted to cook dinner for us so Sach, Cas and Bob and Cash, and Juli and I went over to my dad's on Saturday night for dinner. We ate and laughed and watched Tech beat the crap out of Texas! :) I have to say Juli and I spent most of the time on the computer but what's new? :) I got a new purple ipod for my birthday. I got to use it on Thursday when I worked out and it is AWESOME!
Another plus to birthday weekend was that it was opening weekend for deer season too! :) We (me and dad) LOVE it when this happens!! I've been a hunter ALL my life and still love it! I like spending time with my dad and being outdoors. We have shared many laughs on hunting trips. We didn't have any luck on my birthday morning but on Sunday, I shot this nice buck! It was at my feeder when the sun came up and I couldn't tell what it's antlers looked like but I noticed it had a very nice size body. I watched him for a while and waited to see if anything else showed up worth shooting. A few young bucks and some small doe showed up but I'm a picky shooter and waited patiently. Just before the sun came over the hill, (which blocks my scope) this buck started to leave. I figured I might as well try a shot, he had a large body and my freezer was EMPTY :) So I took a long shot at him. I felt very good about my aim but he ran about 50 yards and then stopped. I was quite surprised, I could have sworn I hit him! (You can tell you hit by the sound of the shot) He stood real still moving his head from side to side really slow. I figured since he was standing there I might as well try another shot, why not? So I shot again. By this time my heart was pounding and I wasn't as confident in the second shot. My gun knocked me back on the second shot so I didn't see if he fell or if he ran. My dad had his walkie talkie off so I decided to take the truck and go see if I had a deer. Just before I climbed the hill my dad came on the walkie and said it sounded like I hit both times! So I went and picked my dad up and we went to search. Just as I was talking him through my morning I looked over and there he was! He was larger that I had thought and his antlers were awesome! :) He was an older deer which is good but one of his antlers was broken off. As I was field dressing him, I noticed I had shot him BOTH times! If I had waited just another minute before the second shot he would have fallen! :) O'well!! My freezer is now packed to the max and I can't wait to make some chili and stew! Bring on the cold weather! :) (It was an 8 point with about a 17.5 in spread if you were wondering )

He even had a little drop tine

He was super heavy!

Dad and I had both forgotten our cameras so we had to make a trip to my house to take some pics before having the deer processed.

Improving my skills :)

I've been improving my skills on scrap blogging! :) Thank you so much Ash for teaching me! It is so fun and easy to do! My sis was getting frustrated trying to make invitations for Cash's birthday (I can't believe he's going to be a year old already!!), so I decided to take matters into my own hands and help her out. I also had alot of free time with Sach in Mexico :) I think they turned out pretty good!

I'm very excited because Sach is on his way home tonight! He's driving in from Dallas as I'm typing this!!!!!! If you don't remember...he's been in Mexico City playing hardball roller hockey since last Thursday. His team won 3rd place in the Mexican tournament, they were the only team from the USA. He's really upset they didn't win but at least they didn't get last! :) Hopefully I'll get some pics from some people who were there that I can post later. He's coming home just in time for my birthday which is on Saturday! (My dad's is Sunday) That is also the first day of deer season so my dad and I went out to our lease and trimmed trees and filled feeders to be sure we are ready! (Hopefully there will be pics to come! )

A Cluster of Updates

So I forgot to post a specific pic. While hanging with the cousins, Cash showed some possible soccer skills. I think he kinda liked it!! I can't wait till he plays soccer! :)

Cash making a goal
I think Cash had fun hanging out with the cousins. He hadn't been around many boys all weekend so he got some good "guy time" at the party. My cousin Derek made him feel very welcome, Thanks Derek!

Derek and Cash

Sach and I finally were able to have a weekend to ourselves this past weekend! We hadn't had a weekend just to hang out together since August! I was kinda upset because on Friday I started running fever and felt terrible and I was afraid it would ruin our weekend but I was a trooper and we had a good time. We called it Date Weekend. I was "on call" on Friday so we rented movies, "Baby Mama" and "Leatherheads." I really like BM, it was hilarious! We were disappointed in leatherheads, it was really slow and not as good as I had expected. On Saturday, I cooked breakfast and we went downtown to watch Sach's sister clog, that is also what we did on our first date. We thought it only fitting to make it a tradition on date weekend :) Sach got some "Maddie" time, his niece. She loves her "Uncle Ach" :) We also got to visit with his mom and sister. It was a beautiful day to be outside so we walked around downtown a little as well.

After our stroll downtown we went by my dad's house and I got my Cash fix. Dad was keeping Cash for the afternoon. Cash was thrilled to see me! :) My dad had some company and they said his face really lit up when he heard my voice and saw me walk around the corner :) I LOVE IT! Sach and I went to eat at The Wharf and then went to the movies to see "The Express." That was a FANTASTIC movie. I would definitely recommend that movie. It was a tear jerker at times, but really good. Overall, I think Date Weekend went very well and Sach and I were excited to get to hang out together, even if I was sick all weekend :( I'm feeling tip top now though :)

Sach leaves for Mexico this week to play in a hockey tournament in Mexico City. He's really excited about going but he's ready for it to be over at the same time. He gets stressed out when he goes on trips like this and he is in charge of the jerseys so that adds to the stress. We picked up their jerseys this morning and they look awesome so he was a little relieved. Pray they win! :)

Family fun

Finally I have time to post some pics. While we were in Dallas, my sis, Cash and I went to my cousin Derek's son Hudson's 1st birthday party. My cousins had never met Cash and hadn't seen my sis in forever! Cash got to meet his cousins and play with kids his own age :) Cash got a big kick out of my uncle Gary, he would make funny sounds that Cash liked :)

On the Up and Up!

So, my mom's surgery went well. It took longer than expected, which worried me and Johnny T as we waited very impatiently in the waiting room. The doctor said her thyroid was worse than she had expected so they ended up putting in a drain tube. Also, one of her parathyroid glands would not stay in place so they transplanted it into her muscle. The parathyroid controls your calcium levels. (Her levels have been good so far so it's working!) Mom started feeling like she was swelling in her throat right after surgery so they kept her in recovery longer, which again had Johnny and me pacing the floor! But about 8pm (she went back at 12:45pm), she finally made it to her room and we got to see her. She was still real groggy from the anesthesia but she was talking and breathing! :) That's all I cared about. Of course being the little nurse I am, I inspected everything! My uncle Mike and Felipe came to visit right as she was getting to her room so they stayed with her while Johnny took me home to stay with Cash so Cassie could go see mom. (They don't allow children under the age of 12 in the waiting room or in patient's rooms)
My Unlce Mike is my dad's brother but he still considers my mom family. (My parents have been divorced for 3 years now) He's the sweetest. He fed mom ice and Jello while we were gone and stayed with her for a while even after Johnny and Cassie got back. I thought that was really awesome of him and it meant alot to my mom.
She had to stay over night. The next morning the doctor came in with 5 residents to pull mom's drain tube. Mom told them they reminded her of Grey's Anatomy and I think the doctor was offended because she said, "I like to think we're better than that." But one of the residents lightened the mood with "but we're equally good looking." :) I took mom home on Saturday about noon. She is doing great, a little sore but that is to be expected. She has alot of swelling in her face but it is going down a little more every day. I think they tilt the patient's head back to do the surgery so alot of the fluid settled in her face. She made me promise not to post any pictures of her because she thinks she looks awful! She's beautiful though :) Her incision is only about 3 inches, if that, wide and it is right in the crease of her neck so she shouldn't have a very noticeable scar. We had a great time in Dallas with mom and Johnny T. Cash loved Nana's house because it was so big and he could crawl for days :) I got some cute pics of him that I'll post later.
Thank you all for your prayers for my mom. She's doing great and sounded good when I checked on her today. I am very thankful and lucky to have such a wonderful mom. I hated having to come home and leave her! I love you Mom! Happy healing! :)

For my mom....

I have been the worst daughter ever! :) I have not posted anything about my mom in a while and she emailed me and asked if I had a mom! :) So this is for my mom. I was going to post a blog for her next week, but since she gave me a guilt trip I'll have to do it early.

I have the best mom in the world! Not only did she give me her good looks, she is my best friend. Next week is a very big week in her life. On Friday, Oct 10 not only will she have surgery to remove her thyroid, but she will celebrate her 4th year of sobriety! My mom is a truly amazing person. She has overcome the hardest obstacle. Her life has changed drastically in the last 4 years and she has made the best of it. She recently made a move from Fredericksburg to Dallas. She has a wonderful boyfriend that I adore. She is truly an inspiration. She's not afraid to ask for help and jumps at the opportunity to help someone else. I love her dearly and wish I could see her more often. I miss ya mom but I'll see you next week! I LOVE YOU!! :)

Please pray for my mom and her surgery next week, she freaks going under anesthesia. She has hyperthyroidism and her doctors say that this is the best way to control her levels. She has struggled over the last 2 years controlling her thyroid levels. I'll be posting updates while I get to be her nurse over the weekend :)

A Rant and Praise....

Yea! I'm finally learning how to do everything and decorate my blog. Thank you Ash for teaching me! :) My times lately have been filled with work. Shocker! I feel like I'm a work-a-holic! I think because I've worked the past 4 weekends and haven't gotten to hang out at home with Sach. When I am home, he's at hockey or out of town for hockey. Hockey, hockey, hockey!!!! I'm beginning not to like it all that much! but he likes it so I'll deal.

It's about this time every 4 years that I don't like very much.....politics. I don't think there are words to describe my disgust with politics. I hate having to choose who to vote for. I have pros and cons for both. I don't understand why people think just because you live in Texas you have to be republican. That is SO not true. If I don't vote then I feel like I'm doing myself an injustice. I'm not real impressed with either candidate enough to lean more one way than another. This is going to be a hard decision for me.

I don't think I had posted yet that my sis is having another boy! Cash is going to be a big brother! Oh and on Sunday Cash took his first steps!! Cassie is so excited she was there when it happened. I think she was worried it would happen at daycare. He's getting so big, yet he's still so little! He's been giving that teethy smile and I love it. He makes me want to have cute babies!! :)

I think this pic shows how little he still is :)

Weekend in a flash....

Today was my last day of ECG class. I never knew a few little lines could say so much. I'm such a nerd! Juli and I went for cocktails yesterday and of course I pull out some ECG's and start telling her all about it! She's such a good sport :) I know she was bored out of her mind. It was nice having girl time though. Carla and Kristin came and joined us later. I haven't seen them in forever and Carla was just married in Vegas! She is now Mrs. Chili Cole :) That's so weird! They are super happy! It was a good evening but like every evening, I pooped out early.
Sach comes home today!! YEA!!! He's been down on the Frio River for a bachelor party. He's not much of a river rat like my friends are but I'm sure he had fun. He's still playing hockey twice a week. He's been struggling on whether or not he wants to dedicate more of his time to coach the little kids team like he has for the last few years. I think he's just kinda burnt out on the whole thing. He says it's because he really wants to start a life with me :) I like that idea!
Everything else is going great! I've made a few mistakes at work, but nothing I can't learn from and do better next time. Everyday is a learning experience and I have a LONG way to go. Somedays it is hard to stay positive but at the end of the day I try to find at least 3 good things I've done that helped someone else. I have a hard time hiding my feelings because my cheeks turn BRIGHT red when I get upset or flustered over something. My coworkers have caught on and some of the doctors as well. They think it's hilarious! I guess the good thing is when they see me turning red they are quick to come and help me :) I work with some really great people!
Cash is getting bigger by the second! He's not far from walking! I can't believe it. It seems like just yesterday he couldn't even crawl! He's great though. I think he's head over heels for his Aunt Chels. I act like a complete idiot around him but he loves it!......well..... sometimes he looks at me like I'm an idiot but I tell myself he likes it.
Until the next post......keep smiling! :)

How could I have forgotten?....

I totally forgot to add to my last blog who caught the bouquet at the wedding!! ME!!!!! Sach threatened to tackle me to the ground if I tried :) Afterwards he said he didn't know I could jump so high! I guess I really wanted that thing! :) So if you would all start praying for me that would be great! hahaha!! I really do think he is the one for me and I hope one day to marry him. We'll see :) I can't believe I forgot that totally important detail from the wedding! I had so much fun at the reception! It was great to hang out with Ash and Michael and just have fun! I forgot how much fun it is to dance! I felt like I was at a jr high dance where it doesn't matter what you look like dancing, just that you're having a blast! I don't think we sat out more than 3 songs! I seriously can't explain the FUN factor!! I hope my wedding reception is that fun, it'll be hard. I have some big shoes to fill!

Tandi's wedding.....

Tandi's wedding was a blast! to say the least. I'm so honored to have been a part of it. She was a beautiful bride and her new husband was so happy. They make the cutest couple! Ash and I had a great time at the reception! I wish the happy couple the most love a heart can hold. Here are some pics from the great event!

First day of dove season!

Today was the first day of dove season! My dad and I went out to the lease but they weren't really flying :( I only shot 2 and dad got 2 as well. That makes me feel good cause my dad is a good shot and I'm not! It boosted my esteem a little :) I had my camera with me so of course I had to take some pics!

Gun, vest, stool filled with amo and drinks: Check!

Sach's birthday celebration!

We had a little birthday party for Sach yesterday out at his parent's house. Some of his hockey buddies came over and some old buddies of his. His entire family was there and my fam made an appearance. Sach will be 30 on Wednesday! I keep rubbing it in that he's getting OLD and I'm still in my 20s :) He had a great time. He set up washer pits for he and his friends to play. My dad and I played his grandad and his great uncle and they beat us! Good washer pitching must run in the family. His mom and I made 50 hamburgers! I haven't patted that many patties EVER! It was a fun party and Sach had fun so that's what matters! I'm including some pics and the new pic up top is from Sunday as well :) I made him wear a pin that said 30 and over the hill!

Today was a great day! Sach and I cleaned the house and it feels so good! I love to have a clean house, and my house was needing it. This week is my last week of orientation at my job. I'm kinda nervous about! I start on my own next week! Ahhh! Scary!
Everything is going great! Cash is getting HUGE! I took some new pics when I kept him last week. He stands like a pro! My sis says this week he has mastered the sippy cup. I hate how fast they grow but I'm happy he's healthy. Please excuse the mess in the pics, just pay attention to the kid :) As of this month he's 9 months old. He kinda reminds me of Gavin (Ash's cousin) in some of his pics.

He likes to show off how he can pull himself up! :)
I thought he's never get past the army crawl! :)
